Late last year, representatives from the Children's Hospital at Erlanger in Chattanooga, TN made the decision to include unique displays that relate to Chattanooga’s history in their newly built hospital slated to open later this year. Each floor of the hospital will have different focal points. For the second floor of the new hospital, Erlanger decided to use an antique wrecker as the focal point.

A representative from the hospital reached out to our Customer Service Supervisor, Jeremy Tanksersley (Tank), who has a rich family history in the towing and recovery business. Jeremy’s grandfather, Jasper Wiley Dodd (J.W.), opened a Gulf Service station in the early 1950s in Rossville, GA. Not only that, but J.W. actually met his wife at Erlanger hospital in Chattanooga while she was in nursing school in 1950. Needless to say, "Tank" has a vested interest in being involved in this project.

As luck would have it, Jeremy still had his granddad’s old Holmes 330 Junior wrecker “Sally” and out of the kindness of his heart, he offered to find an appropriate cab and chassis and lead a restoration project of the old wrecker to donate to the new Children’s Hospital at Erlanger.

Over the course of the next several weeks, we will document the restoration process from Tank as he works through the trials and tribulations leading up to the unveiling of the completed project.
